Wow, Labor Day weekend has come and gone. Seriously? It’s officially fall now?
Well, that’s okay, I guess. But only because it means stores have started stocking candy corn. Have I mentioned that I have an unhealthy obsession with candy corn? Yeah, there’s that.
I have been way, way behind on everything in my Google Reader these past few days, and Tweeting? Fuhgeddaboudit. Know why?
Yup, I have my own itty bitty kitchen now. Case in point…uh, counter space? What’s that?
These bowls from Target may in fact be my favorite thing in my kitchen.
So given the fact that we still lack things like, um, a table (my TV is sitting on the floor right now as I watch Chopped), I obviously haven’t had much of a chance to bake anything. Yet. But don’t worry, I’m getting ready!
I spent two hours on Monday night scrubbing out our Fugly Oven. If you think it looks a little shabby now, man, you should have seen it before I got my hands on it. I don’t think it had seen a sponge…ever. Now it’s cookie-ready!
One of the things about moving that made me the most excited was getting to prepare my own meals on a regular basis. Granted, I’m realizing that it’s also pretty daunting (I didn’t realize that panic could set in mid-workday regarding a lack of dinner plans for that night), but I think I’m doing okay so far.
Night 1: Tilapia filet with carrots and broccoli.
Night 2: Whole grain penne with broccoli and the other half of the tilapia filet, plus tomato basil sauce!
Not bad for a newbie, right? Don’t worry; the sweets will make a return soon enough…I don’t think my cabinets can go too long without a supply of flour, sugar, and chocolate chips!
P.S. Is anybody else completely and totally addicted to Pinterest? I sign on intending to pin one thing…and then six hours later I come to and I have six new boards and I’ve decorated three houses I’ll never be able to afford. Not even an exaggeration. So I’ll be a bad influence on you, too–come pin with me!
