Today we’re taking a little break from recipes and instead peeking into my life. The reason being? I don’t know if you caught it in my last posts, but I just got engaged a little over two weeks ago. 😀

I took a poll of sorts on Twitter to see if people would be interested in the engagement story, and the overwhelming answer was yes. So here it is! And a few photos to boot.

Women’s Health 10K: Run 10 Feed 10

Two posts in one week?! I know. But I couldn’t wait any longer to tell you about the race I ran this past weekend.

I haven’t run a long-distance race since my half-marathon back in the spring, so I’ve been looking for another challenge to take on. When I heard about the Women’s Health Run 10 Feed 10 race during Good Morning America one day, it sounded like the perfect event for me!

(Mis)Adventures in 5Ks


In my efforts to continue to prove that I do more than bake and eat what I bake, here’s another glimpse into my running life!

This week, I participated in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge along with a group of other runners from my company. The race is a little more than a 5K–3.5 miles, to be exact–around the lake in Central Park.

PB Fingers Book Club: The Book Thief

We’re taking a brief hiatus from the foodie world today (although there’s still time to enter the Runa giveaway!!) to talk about my other loves: books, and getting lost in them. Here’s what I’ve been reading lately!

I’ve never been much of a historical fiction reader–except when it comes to World War II literature. Number the Stars was one of my favorite required reading books in elementary school, and I did several reports on the time period for other classes as well.

So when Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers picked The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, for this month’s book club discussion, I was beyond psyched. I happened to have just scored a copy through a World Book Night promotion I did with my real-life job, and its praises had already been sung by my roommate.

My First Half-Marathon!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled food blogging for a post about another facet of my life–running!

I’ve been training for my first half marathon (13.1 miles) since before Christmas, and my race weekend finally arrived yesterday. I didn’t sleep much the night before since I was crazy nervous–I was excited and apprehensive and relieved that the day had come, all at the same time. I double and triple checked my bag before leaving my apartment–I was so paranoid I’d forget something like my running shoes and completely screw up the day.

Thankfully, that didn’t happen!

A Weekend Hiatus, and Some News!

I’ve been livin’ life on the road the past couple of weeks for sure. Last weekend I had a wine and chocolate getaway in upstate New York–more about that is coming soon, but I want the post to do it justice! And this weekend, my family and I are taking our annual ski weekend in Vermont. I guess if the winter won’t come to me, I’ll go to winter? So not my usual MO.

Where Have I Been?

Wow, Labor Day weekend has come and gone. Seriously? It’s officially fall now?

Well, that’s okay, I guess. But only because it means stores have started stocking candy corn. Have I mentioned that I have an unhealthy obsession with candy corn? Yeah, there’s that.

I have been way, way behind on everything in my Google Reader these past few days, and Tweeting? Fuhgeddaboudit. Know why?
