Divine Dark Chocolate Chunk Brownies

Brownies 2

The No Kid Hungry bake sale is one of my favorite events of the year – which is why I’m bummed it took me this long to tell you about it! But alas, the bake sale happened to fall at the same time as both finals and a major freelance project. Oh, and normal work. Woof. (I know, I know, you’re all sick of me complaining how busy I am when it’s self-inflicted. Sorry.)

I always credit the NKH bake sale as what got me started blogging, back when I first met Maggy, Amber, and Lillian. It’s exciting to see the same group of blogging friends year after year now, and to watch the sale grow from a folding table outside of Kiehl’s to a central booth at the Brooklyn Flea. We’re movin’ on up, guys!

Food Bloggers’ Saturday in NYC

food blogger group DBGB

I know I am not the first blogger to say this, but I am really ready for spring. I sat in my office on Monday and watched snow blow in off the river all afternoon. I want to put my boots away. No more scarves. No more hair frozen on the subway platform during my morning commute. No more nearly dropping my work phone because I can’t grip the slippery little devil with gloves on.

When a few of us New York bloggers welcomed Erin of The Spiffy Cookie to our city last weekend, we were lucky enough to see sunny skies. But as you’ll be able to tell from the photos, that didn’t stop us from needing to bundle up against the blustery breezes. Hey March—you’re supposed to go out like a lamb. Didn’t you get the memo?

April Foodie Pen Pals…Revealed!

[Don’t forget to see who won the Runa Tea giveaway–I announced the winner today!]

Have I mentioned lately how much I love bloggers? I. Love. Bloggers. It was like my Foodie Pen Pals match for April could read my mind…and I’ve been eating happily all month because of it!

The fabulous Courtney over at Little Food Court sent me a box of foodie love this month, and she made sure my chocolate and peanut butter cravings would be satisfied each and every day.

February Foodie Pen Pals!

Happy almost-end-of-February! I can’t believe March is upon us, although I’m more than ready for it to really be spring instead of this weirdo game of chicken we’ve been playing with winter for the past three months.

Today also marks the first Foodie Pen Pals reveal post I’ve participated in! Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean started this fun exchange in which interested foodies send a care package of goodies to their designated “foodie pen pal” every month–and get a package from someone else, too! What makes it even more fun is that the pen pals exchange an email or two at the beginning of the month to get a sense of their recipient’s interests, likes, dislikes, allergies, etc.–it makes the final goodie box so personal!

This month, I was lucky enough to receive a Foodie Pen Pals box from Elle over at the College Girl’s Guide to Life. I loved perusing her blog and finding out that she and I share a (perhaps inordinate) love for Taylor Swift, not to mention oats in jar for breakfast. I think she’s going to be a pretty awesome teacher!

She’s certainly an expert care package creator. Check out my loot!

The mac ‘n’ cheese on the left made for a great meatless lunch for a Friday at work!

I can’t wait to try these granolas with milk or yogurt! I think they’ll make for extra tasty breakfasts.

S’mores flavored nut blend?! This girl knows the way to my heart.

But the thing I was most excited about? Oh just take a look.

Hello, you beautiful beautiful cookies.

If you had a chance to take a look at my College Town Tour, you know that one of my absolute favorite spots near Villanova was this fabulous place called Great Harvest Bread. So imagine how surprised–and beyond thrilled–I was when I opened my package to find five giant cookies from Great Harvest sitting right on top?! The one in the picture above is a peanut butter M&M (monster) cookie, but beneath that were three dreamy, chewy toffee chocolate chip cookies. I am a girl obsessed.

If you want to get involved with Foodie Pen Pals for the month of March, shoot Lindsay an email at theleangreenbean@gmail.com and let her know:
-Your full name
-Your email address
-Your blog name/address (if you have one)
-Your twitter handle (if applicable)
-Whether you are a U.S. or Canadian resident

I can’t wait for next month’s exchange! 🙂 Head on over to Lindsay’s blog for a roundup of all our Foodie Pen Pals posts.

White Chocolate Cranberry Almond Cookies–Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap!

It’s finally time to reveal my cookies from the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap!! Thanks to Julie and Lindsay, over 600 food bloggers from across the country (and even across oceans!) joined forces to gift each other with delicious treats this holiday season. Each of us was tasked with baking three batches of one cookie, then sending a dozen to each of our three designated matches. In return, we received three different batches of cookies from three other bloggers! Oh, the excitement. The sugar high!

S’mores Explosion Pie, and a Pie Party Live recap

Have you ever imagined what life would be like if you took every and any ingredient and made it into a pie? Can you even conceive of that many different kinds of pies?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have seen the promised pie-land. And let me tell you, it is yoga-pants-wearing good.

This past Saturday, I had the fantastic opportunity to take part in Pie Party Live, a NYC food blogger event organized by the fabulous Jackie and Ken. The potluck o’ pie was held at Rodeo Bar, whose fine establishment graciously provided us with space and smiling service for the whole three hours of pie gluttony. Thank you, Rodeo Bar!

The only requirement for admission to the event? Bring a pie!
